Mrs. Joanne Elizabeth Hawkins Vargo, age 80, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on June 7, 1935 to Edward & Mary (Pierce) Wagenmaker and married William Hawkins in 1955. He passed away in 1979. After William's passing Joanne would enjoy working at University Park as the Activity Director for several years. She met and married Joseph Vargo in 1983 and sadly he died in 1989. Joanne was a member of Calvary Bible Church, it's Bible study and church groups. Joanne loved to sing and you could hear her as part of the Sweet Adelines and as a soloist at her church. In her spare time you could find her reading inspirational books, crocheting or other crafts. She will be greatly missed.
SURVIVORS Sons, Ricky (Birdella) Hawkins of Muskegon, Tim (Louella) Hawkins of Muskegon, Ken (Silvia) Hawkins of WA; daughters, Marjorie (Thomas) DePoy, Susan Sells, Brenda (John) Grabinski, all of Muskegon; 21 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brothers, James (Carol) Wagenmaker, Louis (Barb) Wagenmaker, Harvey (Judy) Wagenmaker; sisters, Betty (Thomas) Proksa & C. Kay (Norman) Beebe; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her 2 husbands; granddaughter, Erin DePoy; great granddaughters, Emily & Alissa Smith; and son-in-law, Bruce Sells.
SERVICE Saturday, August 29, 2015, 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to the service at Calvary Bible Church with Rev. Ed Arndt officiating. Interment in Mona View Cemetery. Clock |
