Mrs. Winnie Kooistra, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 9, 2012, at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. She was born on February 27, 1924, in Muskegon, MI to John and Johanna (VanderMolen) Wagenmaker. Winnie was a member of Reeman Christian Reformed Church, and she was well known as the apple lady at Kooistra Orchards where she loved to greet people in the fall. On November 1, 1944, she married Frank W. Kooistra in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on March 9, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Jake, Henry, Eli and Albert Wagenmaker; and by her sister, Grace Tuuk. Survivors include three children, Dori (Ken) Gates of Grandville, Doug (Diane) Kooistra of Fremont, Duane (Kay) Kooistra of Twin Lake; six grandchildren, Matthew (Heather Kooistra, Nate (Stephanie) Kooistra, Katie (Tom) Wiersema, Chad Kooistra, Nikki (Josh) McCue, Allie Kooistra; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Fae) Wagenmaker of Hudsonville, Clarence (Evelyn) Wagenmaker of Muskegon; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Wagenmaker, Ann Wagenmaker, Jo Wagenmaker, Bess (Gene) Farber, Alice Kooistra; and by many nieces and nephews. the Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Reeman Christian Reformed church with Pastors Les VanDyke and Nate Kooistra officiating. Interment will be in Reeman Cemetery. There will be a time of visiting with the family at the church from 10-12 noon on Saturday.
